The Creative Players After School
program successfully improved students' social interactions, emotional well-being, confidence, problem-solving, self-esteem and joy. Parents told me it was the first time their children wanted to come to school.
Creating a safe environment allowed the kids to express themselves and develop funny and exciting stories and amazing characters.
Skits, improvisations, music, sound effects. Everyone shares their ideas.
Give children some fun costumes and props and watch as they begin to create, explore, and express themselves.
Socio-dramatic play is an excellent way of promoting cooperative play. Studies have found that children, who engage in this socio-dramatic play, regularly are more friendly, popular, cooperative, verbal and creative, usually less impulsive and aggressive and more likely to take the perspective of others (Fein & Kinney, 1994)
Cooperative dramatic play promotes language, vocabulary growth (Bock, 1997; Edwards 1997). Using different voices, gestures and becoming different characters promotes growth for moving out of the egocentric stage into a broader perception and sensitivity of others
KIDS ENJOY DRESSING UP AND CREATING THEIR OWN SKITS AND PLAYS. THEY ALSO EXPERIMENT WITH SOUND EFFECTS WITH KEYBOARDS, AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS TO EMBELLISH AND SUPPORT THE CHARACTERS
Hi Shari:
I’m happy to inform you that the kids had a lot of fun, you were great, apparently many didn’t want to leave the room as you had come with so many props that kept them engaged. Please share any pictures that you may have & feel free to post this
Thanks,
Adrian
